Training Outline

Qualification Training

Instructor
Qualification
A self study training class leading to qualification as an Auxiliary instructor.
Vessel Examiner A self study training class plus practical applications which permit the member to participate in the VE program.
Marine Dealer
Visitor
A self study training class which certifies the member as a MDV and a major link with local marinas and boat dealers.
Air Operations Practical and classroom training leading to qualification as an Air Observer, and training for pilots to be certified as Auxiliary pilots.

Boat Crew

Crew/Coxswain Practical and classroom training leading to qualification as Boat crew or Coxswain. Boat crew may serve as crew in Auxiliary surface operations, while Coxswains may serve as operators while on authorized surface missions.

A class in radio communication allowing the member to participate in the communications program.

A class in all aspects of coastal navigation, including piloting, radar and electronic navigation.

A class in procedures for operating Safety, Regatta and Marine Parade Patrols, and topics on safety and leadership while on the water.

A class in the U.S. Coast Guard Search and Rescue procedures.

A class in boat handling, mechanical systems and on-the-water emergencies.
Weather
AUXWEA
A comprehensive, class in weather -- what causes it and how to predict changes.
